Journey to the art world
We invite you to plunge into the world of art at the Louvre Museum in Abu Dhabi, which presents paintings not only from the Louvre and Versailles in Paris, but also exhibits from different civilizations and countries from around the world. In total, there are more than 300 exhibits here, among them paintings by outstanding artists Claude Monet, Leonardo da Vinci, Picasso, Matisse, Van Gogh, Renoir. The permanent collection of the Louvre in Abu Dhabi is regularly replenished, but there are also imported exhibitions from various museums around the world.
In the museum you will see antiquities and artifacts from various countries: China, India, Iraq, Congo, etc. Here, side by side, completely different religions coexist peacefully in the form of presented exhibits: a page from the “Blue Koran” of the 9th century, the Yemeni Torah of 1498 and two Gothic Bibles of the 13th century. Connoisseurs of contemporary art will also find something to please themselves. The Louvre hosts the Art Here exhibition right under the dome of the museum. For young guests, there is a children's museum, where in 2023 the exhibition "Picturing The Cosmos" will be held. This is an exciting journey into the world of stars and planets, combining art and interactive games.
In addition to galleries and exhibitions, the architecture of the museum itself deserves attention. The Louvre was designed by Frenchman Jean Nouvel and built on Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi. The building has a stunning oval structure with a huge openwork dome through which rays of light stream and create the feeling of "solar rain". The huge dome covers almost 2/3 of the museum, which not only creates a cosmic view, but also reduces energy consumption, providing shade to maintain a cooler temperature, which is quite important in the desert, and seawater splashes around the building, in general, the whole museum feels spacious, freedom – very unusual and nice to be there.
